Rumours surrounding Google's first own brand tablet have re-surfaced, with
the latest claiming we are set to see the device in June.
The report comes via a Digitimes upstream supply chain source, who says
Google is working with Asus on an entry level tablet, which was apparently
originally slated for a May launch.
The source goes on to confirm that the Google tablet will sport a 7-inch
display, as the search giant looks to take on the popular Amazon Kindle Fire.
Design and costs fail to reach expectations
Apparently the Google Nexus tablet will now start shipping in June, with an
initial 600,000 units making their way to stores in time for July sales -
with over 2 million units predicted to sell in 2012.
According to the report, Google held back the tablet because "design and
costs did not reach its expectations, and the product was delayed for some
minor adjustments".
We've already seen reports that Asus was chosen by Google to produce a Nexus
tablet, as well as several rumours surrounding the 7-inch display – which
makes this latest news seem all the more real.
The annual Google I/O conference is going to take place on June 27-29, and
this could be the platform where we see the Google tablet announced.

Reports reports reports, you’ve got to love them for their 50/50 chance of
coming out smelling of roses and the latest report we have for you is
surrounding the Google Nexus tablet which could apparently be getting an
official unveiling this June.
Very little is known about the Google Nexus tablet at this time, however
rumours have long insisted that the slate will be of the 7-inch variety and
rock Android Ice Cream Sandwich, a sketchy claim bearing in mind Jelly Bean
is just around the corner.
According to this new report courtesy of the mostly reliable Digitimes the
tablet is also said to be manufactured by Asus. As far as competition goes
the Google Nexus tablet is said to be a direct competitor to the Kindle Fire,
whose sales are said to be falling dramatically at this moment.
